Figured since theres been FOL talk in a number of different threads now, that it needed it's own.

As i said in the in the Eagles topic, 2 bands have already been confirmed for the Festival of Lights, and another act is in the final stages of negotiations - and that there'll likely be an announcement in March. The FOL in from June 28th to July 1st this year.

Anybody hearing any rumored acts?

Not likely.

Festival of Lights is a family oriented event. If I remember correctly, the city got plenty of complaints when Nickelback hit the stage last year.

So there's no way in hell Kiss will make the bill.

So, family oriented. Well that really takes a lot of good bands out of the picture.

Well Buckcherry was one of the headliners last summer, and they certainly aren't a band that comes to mind when you hear the phrase "family oriented".

That said, I honestly would be downright shocked if Kiss were apart of it, i just don't see a band of that scale playing the FOL.

Gawd, if we're going to get into the family thing again, why not just bring in The Wiggles. Rolling Eyes

5 bands are signed so far, but no announcement until sometime in April. It it's going to be 3 nights this year, as opposed to 2 nights like it has been the last couple.

Wishful thinking, but i seen this morning where Pearl Jam have announced 10 US dates in June, the last one being June 30th in Boston Smile

I requested Pearl Jam & John Fogerty for the FOL this summer...last year i requested Buckcherry & they came...in '06 i requested The Hip & they came. That said, i know Pearl Jam will never play Charlottetown Landing Park Very Happy

For some reason Pearl Jam haven't added any Canadian dates on this latest leg that they've announced.

Possible McCartney show worries Tourism Charlottetown

Last Updated: Wednesday, April 9, 2008 | 3:54 PM AT CBC News
Talk of a Paul McCartney concert in Halifax some time around the Canada Day weekend has the organizers of the Festival of Lights concerned.

'We'll definitely contact Halifax and ask if there's any way possible to not do it on that weekend.'
— Kim Doyle, Tourism CharlottetownMcCartney's advance team was in Halifax this week looking at the possibility of a concert on the Commons. Tourism Charlottetown holds the Festival of Lights every Canada Day weekend, and concerts are a big feature of the event.

We hope it actually won't end up on that same weekend, and we don't think it's a done deal yet," Kim Doyle, director of festivals and events for Tourism Charlottetown, told CBC News Wednesday.

"We'll definitely contact Halifax and ask if there's any way possible to not do it on that weekend."

Doyle said a McCartney concert on Canada Day wouldn't necessarily be a problem, because the Festival of Lights tends to focus on rock bands, attracting a different group of fans than Paul McCartney. The headliner for the 2007 Festival of Lights was Nickelback.

The lineup for this year's Festival of Lights in Charlottetown will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

Why should the promoter or officials for McCartney try to accomodate the requests for a festival that isnt even in the same province. As far as Im concerned with the FOL, they should have booked an act sooner. snooze ya lose.

I already got Eagles, Alice Cooper, QOTSA, Dylan plus GT, Blue Man Group, Paul M and Elton are all but a lock. Plus Matt Good. Blast at the Beach.... plus with the hockey in halifax next month...... They missed their opp as far as I am concerned.... The Trews and Default won't cut it this year....
