Magic 104 changes to classic rock format

Postby john holmes on Fri Jul 31, 2009 1:37 pm

Haven't listened to the new station yet but at least it's an improvement over the soft rock easy listening syrupy elevator music from Magic 104. You have to wonder if they could have chosen a different format? Seems like a little overkill since C103 already does the classic rock thing. Would have been nice to have a station that specialized in modern rock.

I agree John, I am happy that I live in Fredericton where we have the choice of either Modern Rock (The Fox) & Classic Rock (Fred-FM).

I agree, both Fredericton's stations rock! Travelling through there and you hear a bit of a harder edge to it until you get to c103 and hear Luba

Why the hell is Luba on rotation on a rock station? :?

I can try to answer that question why they didn't go "Metal" or the format you're hearing alot about these days called, "Classic Alternative" which is very new to Canada! I think there is one in Vancouver?

So to spin a new format that's never been done before is a bit risky for any radio station.

But I do agree that 2 of same thing is 2 many. Look for Rogers to jump at the chance to add an Adult Pop station to serve the Female audience Magic 104 abandoned.
