There was no giving up on any Springsteen show. The provincial government has been working with a promoter and one of the acts the promoter was talking to was Springsteen's people. The government is looking to invest in a show for late August, early September and Springsteen was one of the A-listers they were chasing. He, ultimately, decided against it. Carver claims to have Springsteen for Aug. 16. I've heard he had an offer in but that's it. I'm sure if Carver really does have Springsteen for Aug. 16, the city of Halifax would love to have it. So Mr. Carver, time to put up or shut up. If you've got Springsteen like you claim to have, find a spot for him to play. So far, I've heard nothing from Halifax that would lead me to believe Carver is telling the truth.

I didn't buy it either, has to be more to that story. I will say that Carver did deliver Aerosmith and over 30,000 were there. It wasn't stellar from an organizational stand-point but they still rocked the place.

Robbie Mac from Halifax, NS writes: I don't care who books him or where. Just book him anywhere in the Maritimes and I will be there as will likely 50,000 others.

Politicians are not concert promoters.

Can that be made anymore clearly than that?

Old home week has about as much draw for me to the Island as a quilting bee.

I would bring my family to the Island for a week for Springsteen or Petty show.

ANYWHERE JUST BOOK IT!!!

One would think so but that doesn't seem to be the case with Carver.

Has there been any mention of this in the Chronicle-Herald????
I mean, for heaven's sake, if it's true that Carver has Springsteen for Halifax on Aug. 16, why hasn't the Halifax media picked up on this???
I can see the media in Halifax ignoring it if it were a small concert but Springsteen would be a huge draw. And nothing is being reported at all?

After all the media surrounding McCartney maybe they're being a bit more cautious before they give it any press. Who knows really? Seems like they're pretty fired up about it in PEI.
