Wow! I'm surprised - I didn't expect them to be that cheap! Might not be so bad after all!

| So, since the eagles aren't confirmed anymore, does anybody have any guesses where they will play in the maritimes if they do at all? Im assuming all 3 locations are still in the running.

| I think they are still playing in Moncton it was just that news was leaked to the media before the contract was signed and prior to being announced by the promoter. City staff merely appear to be playing coy so that they don't risk losing the show before they are allowed to confirm information.

Makes me wonder who leaked it, cuz the way the media portrayed it, it sounded signed and confirmed. But the way I see it, with no signature yet, they could still sign on to play in any of the 3 provinces.
Although not to sound rude, cuz it isn't my intent, but for a show this huge, it really belongs off the island. When your talking crowds of 100,000 people, I just don't see how PEI could possibly handle the logistics of it. And I think it could potentially put a big dent in ticket sales.
Don't take it personally guys, just my opinion .

I agree completely with this. The Aerosmith show was bad enough with 20K people descending onto the Island. Can you imagine 60-80 K going over successfully. As far as I'm aware there isn't even a four-lane highway in PEI to accomodate an efficient flow of traffic on/off the Island.

| I live in PEI, am a huge fan of the Eagles and a huge fan of Elton John (seen him 6 times). I am sincerely hoping that any show is in MONCTON. I think the magnetic hill site is perfect for larger shows, the infrastructure is there, and the crew of experienced people to put this on is there. Donald Tarlton will also ensure that this is a money-maker. I am not a fan of flat surfaces for concerts. Further, if Carver is involved over here, I wouldn't go near it. His shows are an accident waiting to happen. On the day before Aerosmith's show, he was still trying to find security workers, by contacting larger employers. No training!

David Carver WILL NOT be involved in the next major concert in Charlottetown. Carver is trying to book a show (still trying despite losing The Eagles) for Summerside but the City of Charlottetown and the provincial government have had it with Carver. The guy is not stable. There are talks with more than one promoter ongoing at present. I know Charlottetown and the province are in talks with a New York promoter who is talking to Bon Jovi's agent. The site Charlottetown is looking at is the Upton Farm site. I stress - looking at. The are two or three other big acts but I'm still trying to find out who they are.
Of course, this is all in addition to whatever the Festival of Lights has in mind and I know they've got three acts signed. Don't know who yet.

| I hope you're right. Carver tends to burn a lot of bridges wherever he goes. I just hope Summerside doesn't make the same mistake.

| As of yesterday 2 bands were confirmed & another was in the final negotiations, and they are planning a March announcement.

Taken from Saturday's Times-Transcript Sleuth Column:
Peaceful easy feeling to engulf the Hill
GOSSIP FROM N.B.’S FAVOURITE RUMOUR-MONGER
Published Saturday February 16th, 2008
Well, the news has finally broken about this summer's big concert at Magnetic Hill.
It appears Metro Moncton -- and all of Atlantic Canada -- will be soaring like Eagles on Aug. 2. Of course, Moncton concert guru Ian Fowler says nothing has been signed yet to bring one of the most famous bands in music history to our little burgh.
But Sleuth knows enough of the inside scoop to reassure all faithful readers that those rumours that first surfaced in envious Halifax this week are indeed true.
You can't blame Fowler and the city for being extremely careful to not announce anything until every last legal contract is signed in triplicate. Sleuth hears that the city thought it had secured a concert by a certain 'Rocket Man' last summer at the Hill, but the deal died at the very last minute. Once bitten, twice super-shy!
While an appearance by The Eagles would be a huge coup for the city, Sleuth hears when the story behind getting the concert finally comes out, it will be a tale of intrigue, impeccable timing and plain good luck.
Halifax, and especially the government of P.E.I., were in extremely hot pursuit of this same concert, Sleuth understands. And it was only with some high-powered help and a little bit of fortuitous timing that Moncton won this race.
And if you think you can still book a hotel room in Moncton for that long August weekend, think again.
As soon as rumours leaked out about the show this week, rooms were scooped up fast.
Where's the nearest hotel with rooms?
Maybe 'Hotel California'?

Man they better hope they get a signed contract. Otherwise you'd see the biggest uproar in history lol.
News of these things should never be made public before everything is signed and finalized.

Considering Moncton is rumoured to have overpaid to secure the Eagles (4million) it will be interesting to see how this all unfolds.
After last years fiasco on the island I am not a big fan of outdoor shows, weather unpredictable. Especially if you have to travel to see the show. Better off paying a couple of extra dollars and seeing them in an arena.
I must be getting old !!
