for those of you who have travelled distances to see KISS, thats great, kudos to you and if its worth it to you to go who am i to say its a waste.
But make no mistake, youre a minority, and that wont fill The Commons, did anyone read the paper last week where it said that there are only about half a dozen bands that are high caliber talent, that would attract 40000 or more. Now i believe its more then then that, but it a big time promoter is saying that, do you actually think kiss is in that list?
I dont even think Van Halen can attract 40,000 to the site, but who knows/

dude of course kiss can pull in 40 000 very easily it's kiss come on i can understand if your not a fan but give them some credit there stage show alone is worth seeing them not to mention all the hits they have had and the fact that they have not been here since 1976 if kiss comes it would be a great time and worth every penny

The way I see this only half a dozen or so bands could sell 40,000 tickets comment, is that this may be true in larger markets, but in the maritimes where large acts more seldomly come, I think there are more acts that could be considered huge draws, even with our lower population base.

I thought Elton John didn't like doin' Outdoor Concerts and that's why he wouldn't be playin' on the Hill, So why would he be playin' in PEI instead??

I am a firm believer that deperation is not enough to draw a crowd to the commoncs.
Be assured that even though there are people out there that will take anything, it still wont fill the commons.
I believe there is a desperation factor and it was quite apparant after the jan 26th ozzy show. For those who attended the ozzy show and enjoyed it, great for you, i went and i was happy to see ozzy, but that was one of THE worst concerts i have ever been too, he played less then hour and a half, his voice was breaking all night, and 1 sabbath{ oh well}. The show blew, but talk to anyone who went on the facebook group and they will tell its the best concert halifax has had, thats their opinion and their entitled to it. But the fact is, you would either have to be DESPERATE for a show or have seen so very little in the way of good concerts that anything is good. Thats not me, and Kiss wont fill the commons, if i am wrong and it happens i have no problem i was wrong, but i am not wrong til it happens, Laughing

You're right, Ozzy wasn't the best show ever, BUT that's a gamble you take with ANY show you go to. Think about it... you have no idea what condition a band is going to be in until you're at the show. Realistically, how many people actually go online and read all the comments from recent shows? I had no idea Ozzy was doing the foam thing, I didn't know Sharon was going to come out, I didn't know Zakk did a 20 minute guitar solo, and I had no idea Ozzy's voice was gonna be that bad! And even if I did, I doubt it would have made me change my mind and not go see him.

And we will agree to disagree on the desperation factor. Obviously it doesn't apply to everyone, but it does to enough. Just browse through the threads on this forum and you'll see that 'most' of us attend 'most' of the shows in this area. That being said, I don't know who's going to Keith Urban, but I think Rock and Classic Rock has a bigger audience than country. Also keep in mind I'm talking about big shows, not stuff like Blue Rodeo and April Wine.

i didnt say anything on the ozzy thread cause whats the point of bringing down the mood, just i didnt want to mention it then doesnt mean i wouldnt eventually mention it. Its just no fun bringing down the mood on a message brd you enjoy going to.

Just to add my two cents on the argument over Kiss being able to sell 40,000+ tickets around here. Honestly, I think the only reason bands like the Eagles and Stones, and even Elton to an extent can have a successful show around here is because they have appeal not only with the age groups that were around when they were in their primes, but also with younger people in their 20’s and early 30’s who may not have been around during their primes or too young to remember them, but still truly enjoy and can relate to the music.

I am in this age group and personally do not know too many people in my age group who would not jump at the chance to see the Eagles and quite a few to see Elton John. These are the same people who also jumped at the chance to see the Stones. As for Kiss, I do not think their following has changed to drastically overtime as I do not think I know one person in my age group who would see Kiss if they were playing right here in town, let alone shell out travel expenses to go. I am not saying they do not exist, but Kiss would certainly not draw the “youth” crowds the Eagles or Elton John would. For this reason, and this reason only, I do not think Kiss would have a successful concert of that type around here. If they were to do an arena show that was nice and centrally situated in the Maritimes then I think they would have a successful show, otherwise I think it would be a flop.

I hope Kiss do come to the Maritimes this summer or next...just so we can see how many people they draw Very Happy

Personally i think Kiss still has big drawing power, no i don't think they could bring in 80,000 to the Hill like the Stones did...and no they don't have the drawing power of a U2 or AC/DC would...but i still think they could attrack plenty of people. Not really sure about the younger crowd not being interested...i'm 24 years old, and i know a lot more people my age that would end up going to see Kiss, especially over Elton John.

I'm sure KISS could bring in as many people as the Aerosmith show if not more. I agree they wouldn't fill the Commons or the Hill but not every show the organizers set up are even meant to draw 80K or more. The acts that can draw that amount are few and far between.

In my opinion, I think KISS would draw a crowd from all age groups. Elton John, I cant see it.
