Ric Flair in Moncton?

What's going on today?

Ric Flair in Moncton?

Postby timcormier on Tue May 19, 2009 12:26 pm

Has anyone heard about this rumour of Ric Flair coming to Moncton for a special showing of the "Wrestler" at Empire Theatres and autograph session.

I can't find anything on the web about it officially but I've heard from a good source with connections to Empire Theatres that this is supposed to happen soon.

If it does happen, Steve at Empire Trinity is looking at doing it in August some time. He didn't give any firm dates. He had originally toyed with three names (Flair, Piper, Foley) but settled on Flair despite his much higher price tag.

He also said that there would be about 20 tickets at a higher price which would give the 20 people access to a 1 hour session with Flair for photos and autographs and the like.

Originally the idea was to bring Kevin Smith in, but sadly that fell through for now. So Steve then had the idea of trying to get Flair and do a showing of The Wrestler. Should be a blast if it does happen.

I think we can now safely bury this idea.

Steve Malloy, the GM of Empire 8 Trinity Drive, was fired from his position effective immediately. Steve was the driving force behind the Fanboy Fridays idea (which has now been spread to every Empire Theatres across the country). He made Empire 8 a fun place to visit and you could see his love and passion for movies and for the movie going experience.

Steve was the one working his tail off to try to get this going.

I don't know what effect it will have, but everyone should join this Facebook Group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=96419085896 and send feedback to Empire Theatres.

I wish Bret Hart would come and do signings for his book, but it's probably too late for that now. I know he was in Halifax recently.
